Job Details

The Plant Manager leads and directs all plant operations with overall responsibility for safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, and quality as the first priority. The position leads the production, continuous improvement, maintenance, engineering and other production related activities for the the Production Site in Bay City, TX comprising of the Formalin, MAL, MMA Reaction & Purification Plants, and Utilities. The Incumbent supervises the Production Manager, Technical Manager, ESHQ & Training Manager, Chemist & Quality Assurance Manager, and Administrative Assistant. The role exercises effective control of the operations with respect to labor, raw materials, equipment, processes and finished products in order to produce with optimum efficiency and safety, the required quantities and quality for all products to meet the requirement of our customers. Ensure all operations are performed safely and within the environmental and legal requirements as imposed by our standard and relevant governing authorities. Maintain all necessary documentation required to complete the above tasks.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

Operate with Safety, Environmental and Health as the first priority. Demonstrate personal dedication for active safety awareness and immaculate plant housekeeping. Eliminate injuries and consistently improve safety performance through innovative safety techniques and effective root cause analysis. Manage all operations in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Proactively manage the high risks associated with flammability and toxicity of the site’s raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
Establish a culture of continuous improvement (C.I.). Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of plant operations; e.g. ESHQ, OEE, team member development.
Develop and lead a high performance team, by establishing clear objectives for each team member. The team should implement a digital twin of the plant, built upon the work in the engineering and construction phases of the LiMA project. Objects and KPI should be tracked visually to highlight deviations and opportunities for C.I.
Ensure high level of plant reliability and product quality as the Bay City Site is a critical supplier for the Bulk Monomer Business’s Customers in RAM.
Operate at all times with the highest level of personal performance and business integrity, representing the company in the local community and in the state to enhance our community standing and promote good public relations in support of business objectives.
Operate the plant to produce required product volumes as agreed in the S&OP process. Focus should include improving plant efficiencies and process yields to optimize production costs.
Manage plant spending to meet or exceed budgeted levels.
Manage capital projects and plant expansions to achieve on time, under budget implementation, insuring state-of-the-art equipment and a well maintained plant.
Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the OQ chemicals and Celanese staff.
Anticipated travel of up to 20% with this position.

WHAT IS EXPECTED

MBA a plus.  Master’s degree in Engineering or Chemistry and 8+ years of experience in a plant environment as a leader managing 50 or more full time staff OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Chemistry and 15+ years of experience in a plant environment with direct operations leadership managing 50 or more full time staff.
Extensive progressive chemical process and plant experience is necessary for this position.
Strong human relations skills, good communication skills, motivational and leadership skills.
Ability to present and influence up to the executive level.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities
Able to lead in a complex environment managing a site owner and other site partners.
Knowledge of digital twin strategies, and experience in data centric management of processes.
Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Power Point) and experience using SAP.
