JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Operations Leader – Food Manufacturing
Location: Brockton, MA
Department: Manufacturing Operations
Reports To: Senior Operations Executive

Position Overview
Responsible for overseeing all daily functions of a food production facility. This role leads teams across manufacturing, materials handling, quality oversight, and systems coordination to ensure optimal product output and compliance. The individual will implement cost-saving strategies, drive continuous improvement, and uphold regulatory and internal standards for safety and quality.

Primary Responsibilities
Direct and manage all daily production activities within the facility.
Guide supervisors and frontline staff to meet or exceed targets in safety, quality, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and inventory control.
Analyze operational data and trends to generate reports and improvement strategies.
Align production schedules with sales forecasts and distribution requirements.
Implement and refine procedures to reduce downtime and increase throughput.
Maintain strict adherence to workplace safety policies and food manufacturing regulations (GMP).
Conduct routine floor inspections to identify and correct process issues.
Ensure readiness for internal and third-party inspections at all times.
Maintain First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices.
Respond to product development and change control inquiries.
Track performance metrics and cost drivers to manage budgets effectively.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in labor usage, ingredients, and production outputs.
Lead hiring, training, and coaching efforts for the production team.
Foster a collaborative and performance-driven culture among staff.
Review attendance and payroll-related records for accuracy.
Enforce safety expectations and incident prevention procedures.
Carry out other duties as necessary to support operations.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years of experience in food production, including leadership roles
Strong foundation in manufacturing, engineering, or food processing disciplines.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and communicate effectively across departments.
Working knowledge of industrial equipment and applicable regulatory requirements.
Skilled in problem-solving, data analysis, and basic business math.
Familiar with software tools for document preparation and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications
Capable of thinking strategically and executing cross-functional initiatives.
Experience within a labor union environment is a plus.
Familiarity with interpreting and applying collective bargaining agreements.

Physical Requirements
Occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Regularly required to walk, stand, or climb for extended periods.
Comfortable working at a computer for a portion of the workday.

Working Conditions
May be exposed to temperature extremes, moving equipment, and varying noise levels.
Work may occur in both warehouse and freezer environments.
Occasional exposure to airborne particles, damp areas, or outdoor weather.

Quality & Food Safety Compliance
Promptly report any food safety or product quality concerns to supervisors or quality personnel.
Notify leadership immediately of any actual or potential issues with raw materials, packaging, or processing conditions that may compromise safety or specifications.
