Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Designer to join a collaborative engineering team supporting a diverse portfolio of commercial projects. This individual will work closely with multidisciplinary design teams to develop plumbing system designs from concept through construction while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, client requirements, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
* Design plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, and other complex facilities.
* Coordinate with architects and engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil throughout all phases of design.
* Develop construction documents using Revit, including plans, details, schedules, and specifications.
* Perform engineering calculations related to domestic water, sanitary waste and vent systems, storm drainage, natural gas distribution, domestic hot water demand, fixture unit analysis, and medical gas systems.
* Select appropriate plumbing equipment and materials based on project requirements, budget, system performance, and architectural coordination.
* Interpret and apply applicable plumbing codes, standards, and best practices throughout the design process.
* Prepare technical documentation and reports supporting project deliverables.
* Participate in project meetings, field observations, and site visits to verify installations and assist with resolving construction-related issues.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to deliver coordinated, high-quality engineering solutions while maintaining project schedules.

Qualifications
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
* Approximately 4+ years of plumbing design experience within a consulting engineering environment.
* Experience designing commercial building plumbing systems from schematic design through construction administration.
* Proficiency with Revit; AutoCAD experience is beneficial.
* Strong understanding of plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards.
* Knowledge of fire protection systems and applicable codes is a plus.
* Familiarity with healthcare and educational facility design is preferred.
* CPD or CPDT certification is preferred but not required.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
* Working knowledge of sustainable plumbing design practices and water conservation strategies is desirable.
