Job Details

Position: Project Engineer / Construction Engineer
Position Overview:
This role is responsible for managing, evaluating, and coordinating technical information required to deliver construction projects on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. The Project Engineer plays a key role in translating plans into actionable steps and oversees Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, and Interns to support successful project execution.
Reports To: Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Project Executive

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project stakeholders including architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, and the owner’s representatives to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Interpret and manage contract drawings and subcontractor scopes to ensure consistency with project estimates and design intent.
  • Maintain and monitor the project budget; assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Manage the submittals and shop drawing process, reviewing for conformance with project specifications and resolving discrepancies.
  • Lead the Change Order process — prepare independent cost and scope analyses, obtain subcontractor estimates, coordinate reviews with the architect and owner, and finalize agreements.
  • Oversee project close-out activities including compiling and submitting RFIs, warranties, as-built documentation, O&M manuals, attic stock, and spare parts.
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to Assistant Engineers, Plan Clerks, and Interns; contribute to performance reviews and career development.
  • Draft detailed Scope of Work documents for each trade package.
  • Generate key project reports such as logs for general conditions, labor, safety, quality control, and change orders.
  • Facilitate subcontractor coordination and preconstruction meetings, including managing agendas and follow-ups on submittals and action items.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, with at least 4 years of relevant construction experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management tools; familiarity with BIM and LEAN construction principles is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Proven organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and occasionally climb, balance, kneel, or crouch.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
