Job Details
Responsibilities:
Estimating Duties:
- Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub-contractors and General Contractor/owner to keep to the schedule
- Thorough use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility and system possibilities
- Regularly attend the PM/Design department meeting and discuss relevant topics
- Estimate and manage fire sprinkler system installations correctly and economically while keeping schedules and minimizing overages
- Have a good work ethic and a positive attitude
- Offer experience-based ideas and insight to the team while listening to others and learning from their experiences
- Learn to read and understand fire protection and construction drawings
- Learn to read and understand contracts and change orders
- Make sure all permits and submissions are correct and up to date
- Conduct field surveys when required
- Coordinate kickoff meetings with Design for new project turnover
- Establish and maintain communication with customers and other contractors pertaining to work schedules, progress reports, change orders, etc.
- Work closely with field and design staff on project specifications, staff needs and change orders
- Follow the fab schedule to make sure your projects are getting pipe when they need it
- Monitor project purchase orders, change orders, weekly Minutes meetings, and attend bi-monthly meetings
- Track project labor and material costs for correctness and job performance
- Use leadership skills, including ability to communicate, address personnel issues and make fair decisions related to project demands, customer service and employee assignments
- Perform work in an efficient and organized matter and maintain thorough record keeping skills
- Professionally communicate with customers and provide excellent customer service
- Manage multiple projects and make recommendations in response to changing conditions to meet contract schedules
- Manage project budgets; identify budget changes throughout the life of the project. Submit change orders and review billing timely to ensure the projects financial health
- Communicate with the field
- Maintain good records for future use
- Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers
- Coordinate with other departments within office to ensure proper handover of job information
- Ensure accuracy throughout with acute attention to detail
- Submit RFI’s when necessary for project clarity
- Store all digital information in the correct folder on the server to ensure their safety and make them available to everyone
Estimating Duties:
- Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure pipe sizing
- Layout and price seismic bracing
- Layout and bid underground systems
- Perform hydrant calculations
- Estimate projects for the Sales Department on time and per specs and drawings
- Book new jobs and update the database
