We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Property Controller to join our thriving Finance team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in property accounting. The ideal candidate will oversee the financial operations of our extensive real estate portfolio, which includes 25+ buildings and 100+ leases, and will play a pivotal role in driving our financial success.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Property Controller, your main responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing and managing all aspects of the accounting operations for our property portfolio, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk.
2. Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial information, including net operating incomes.
3. Supervising at least one accountant, providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship to support their professional growth.
4. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, including SOX 404.
5. Collaborating with other members of the finance team to improve financial procedures and systems.
6. Participating in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
7. Providing financial analyses as needed, particularly for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with at least 2 years of property accounting experience preferred.
2. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
3. Previous experience in public accounting.
4. Proven supervisory experience, with a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
5. A strong understanding of SOX 404 and other relevant regulatory requirements.
6. Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
9. A proactive approach, with the ability to identify potential issues and implement effective solutions.
10. Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
