We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Permanent Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dynamic team in the Healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in mental health, a compassionate approach to patient care, and a strong commitment to promoting mental health awareness. As a PMHNP, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our patients, with a focus on diagnosing and managing mental health conditions. Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including the assessment of mental status, current and past history of violence, suicidal ideation, substance use, and overall psychiatric history.
2. Develop individualized care plans based on the patient's diagnosis, personal and family history, physical exam, and current symptoms.
3. Prescribe and manage medications, closely monitoring their effectiveness and adjusting dosages or medications as needed.
4. Provide psychotherapy and counseling services, including individual, group, and family therapy.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, social workers, and therapists, to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care.
6. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and the treatment options available.
7. Stay updated on the latest advancements in psychiatric care and incorporate new treatment methods into practice as appropriate.
8. Ensure all patient care is in compliance with state laws and regulations, as well as the standards of the healthcare facility.
9. Advocate for mental health awareness and work to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health conditions.
Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
2. Current state licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in psychiatric nursing, with a strong emphasis on patient care and treatment.
4. Demonstrated competence in multicultural settings, with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with diverse patient populations.
5. Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, including the latest diagnostic criteria and treatment methods.
6. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathize with patients and their families.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in high-stress situations.
8. Proficiency in electronic health record systems and other computer-based applications.
9. Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning, with the ability to stay updated on the latest advancements in the field of psychiatry.
10. Demonstrated commitment to promoting mental health awareness and advocating for the needs of patients with mental health conditions.
