Purchasing Agent

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team in the residential construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your expertise in purchasing, bids, and project management in a challenging and rewarding environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential construction and homebuilding, with proficiency in various systems such as BuildPro, Buildertrend, MarksSystems, and Microsoft Excel. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for managing all aspects of purchasing functions to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials and services. Must have experience in homebuilding or residential construction!

Responsibilities:

• Manage all purchasing activities including the preparation of purchase orders, evaluation of supplier bids, and negotiation of contracts.
• Coordinate with project managers and other team members to understand project requirements and timelines.
• Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed to ensure the best value for the company.
• Analyze and forecast future product needs, market trends, and potential supply challenges.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, and ensure timely delivery of products and services.
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply and minimize excess.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate purchasing with business systems and processes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Purchasing Agent in the construction industry.
• Proven experience with purchasing, preparing purchase orders, evaluating bids, and managing bid packages.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction and homebuilding.
• Experience with Buildpro system is preferred.
• Proficiency in using Buildertrend, Marks Systems, and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure advantageous terms.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze market trends and make cost-effective purchasing decisions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and team members.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
• Knowledge of procurement regulations and procedures in the construction industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field is preferred.
