Job Details
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Contract Quality Engineer to join our team for the next 6+ months. This role involves ensuring the quality of our manufacturing processes and products, especially within the context of space hardware. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Quality Engineering within AS9100 regulated environments.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement quality control methodologies to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, guidelines, and procedures in the manufacturing process.
2. Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
3. Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy.
4. Develop and implement quality plans, programs, and procedures using quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and analyses.
5. Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams and participate in the review of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations.
6. Investigate and thoroughly understand why a process or product failed, and use this knowledge to prevent future failures (RCCA).
7. Assist in the preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
8. Apply GD&T techniques to assess product conformity.
9. Implement Six Sigma methodology to improve process efficiency and reduce defects.
10. Collaborate with other departments to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve quality related issues.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a similar role in the manufacturing industry.
3. Extensive knowledge of quality assurance standards and methodologies such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and RCCA.
4. Proven experience with space hardware and NASA-related projects.
5. Strong knowledge of Six Sigma methodology and process improvement techniques.
6. Proficiency in GD&T.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
8. Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
9. Proficiency in using MS Office and related software.
10. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) would be an asset.
