Summary
As a technical leader, the quality engineer is responsible leading the design and development of the manufacturing quality process to ensure customer quality requirements are met. As a report to the quality team, this individual leads the quality design, quality methods and corrective action processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Leadership
  • Leads the development and implementation of the necessary quality checks and process steps to ensure customer quality requirements are met
  • Leads the CFF and CAPA processes for the respective business units, driving root cause analysis and required actions to ensure failures are not repeated
  • Leads / participates in cross functional teams to define and resolve manufacturing challenges – able to put action plans in place to correct
  • Leads DFMEA, Control Plan, 8D, MSA
  • Leads Supplier management and development
  • Leads ISO Audits


Communication
  • Coordinate activities associated with “first article build” of new products, ensuring that fabricated items are traceable to documented standards at the time of release of product into the production mode.
  • Teaches team members the methods for manufacturing customer products, new products and assists new team member on boarding
  • Communicates the launch of new/revised products, training team members and enhancing process results
  • Communicates with the business unit leadership on the status of new products and progress improvement initiatives

Design & Development
  • Develops and implements control plans as part of the new product launch process to ensure customer products perform as required
  • Coordinates and completes the first article inspects to customer standards on new and existing products
  • Support and maintains the quality system manual and supports customer and supplier audits
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field – Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical
  • 1-5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
  • Working experience with Lean/Six Sigma strategies

Skills
  • Proficient using Microsoft office suites (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-Point, etc.)
  • Ability to use CAD program such as solid works
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of information
  • Clear understanding of drawings, layouts and GD&T
  • Critical thinking & decision making
