JOB PURPOSE: Receives and inspects materials and products, such as incoming materials, automotive parts, gaskets, seals, stamp parts, springs and/or components, for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties. Assists Quality Manager in providing support to customers/suppliers and completes PPAP, Control Plans and Problem Solving. Responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of Quality Inspector/Technician direct reports.

JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer
LOCATION: Russell Springs, KY – 5 days a week on-site
TARGET SALARY: $75-90k+ depending on experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
An experienced engineer with appropriate industry experience, preferably in the automotive manufacturing field. An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image. An individual with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus. A well organized and self-directed individual and a team player. An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills. Bachelor’s degree in (Science or Manufacturing Engineering) a related field preferred with two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and data, and then effectively communicate this information to any level of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine material or product for surface defects
- Verifies specified dimensions of product or material.
- Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
- Interprets engineering drawings, using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical characteristics.
- Performs mechanical and analytical testing
- Operates any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job.
- Performs related duties as needed by supervisor.
- Familiar with ASTM Standards
- Performs calibrations on all gauges and measuring devices (including environmental)
- Responsible for receiving inspections and testing
- Strong mechanical inspections techniques required
- Ability and experience with optical comparator, coordinate measuring machine, and different gaging techniques.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating Document Control System (if assigned.)
- Knowledge of Statistical Techniques Line, SPC, Capability Studies, etc.
- Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
- Responsible for effectively communication information from customer scorecards to team
- Responsible for effectively communicating information concerning scorecards to suppliers
- Responsible for auditing suppliers to standards
- Responsible for completing supplier scorecards
- Must have working knowledge of the Core Tools used to support the Quality Management system, including but not limited to, problem solving, product launches, and continuous improvement activities.
- Ability to perform PPAP and PFMEA
- Maintains document control system (if assigned)
- Responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of Quality Inspector/Technician direct reports.
- Responsible for all supervisory responsibilities for direct reports (including timecards and disciplinary)
- May serve as the deputy for the Quality Manager as required and assigned for all Quality-related responsibilities
- Effectively perform any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary and appropriate.
