We are looking for an experienced Quarry Supervisor to join our dynamic team in the building material industry. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to oversee the entire quarry operation, from extraction and processing of raw materials to dispatching of final products. The Quarry Supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our quarry site, ensuring quality standards are met, and implementing safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Educational Requirements:
  • Engineering Degree-Mining or Geological Engineering Preferred (Or equivalent quarry leadership experience)

Technical Knowledge:
Supervision or Management experience in a union environment.
Strong commitment to safety.
Excellent leadership skills.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to be successful working with limited direct supervision.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
Computer literacy with various software programs, including Excel, Access, SAP, etc.
Flexible team player able to deal with adverse human and technical situations.
Cement experience preferred.
Achievement of production commitments.
Achievement of product quality commitments.
Operating within operating permits (air, water, etc.)

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise the extraction and processing of raw materials from the quarry, ensuring that operations are carried out in accordance with the set production schedule.

2. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines, including those set by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).

3. Implement and maintain a rigorous quality control system to ensure that all products meet the company’s high-quality standards and customer requirements.

4. Use SAP and Kronos systems to manage production data, track employee hours, and maintain an accurate inventory of raw materials and finished products.

5. Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall quarry operations.

6. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate deliveries, maintain equipment, and resolve any operational issues.

7. Train, supervise, and mentor quarry staff, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

8. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and work towards minimizing the operation's impact on the environment.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role in the quarry or mining industry.

2. Extensive knowledge of quarry operations, including extraction, processing, and dispatch.

3. Proven experience in implementing and maintaining safety and quality control systems.

4. Proficiency in using SAP and Kronos systems for production and workforce management.

5. Demonstrated ability to lead a team and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

6. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.

7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.

8. A strong commitment to environmental sustainability and compliance with environmental regulations.
