Responsibilities:
- 25%: Performs computed tomography studies following protocol. Must be able to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy and will tailor exams in accordance with patient history obtained, protocol, and radiologist instruction.
- 25%: Administers IV and oral contrast as required for procedures according to protocols. Follows departmental protocol and institution guidelines for delivery of IV contrast material. Monitors patients’ physical and mental condition throughout the entire procedures. Records any and all patient data appropriately.
- 25%: Provides radiation protection for patients, self and others using gonadal shielding and collimation where applicable. Document acknowledgment of scheduling as directed.
- 25%: Performs nursing duties, including but not limited to the following: assisting the radiologist in the performance of sterile procedures, practicing sterile technique, obtain vital signs, obtain pertinent clinical history, and must be proficient in venous puncture. Will document any and all-important data appropriately. Will be able to identify an allergic reaction or any other urgent medical condition and will notify and assist the radiologist in the treatment of such a situation.
Certifications and Licensures
- Formal training in Radiological technology as normally acquired through completion of an Associate’s degree in Applied Science or a medical based program required.
- Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire
- ARRT CT required within 3 years of hire
- ARRT Radiologic Technologist required within 1 year of hire
