Essential Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of roughly 10 accounting staff members. We're for a "player / coach" who loves to teach property accounts & administrative accounting staff.
- Leading a proactive property accounting culture, focusing on training Sr. Accountants on balance sheets, distributions, & cash flow analysis to help more effectively guide owners & asset management teams.
- Responsible for monthly closing process, billing, accounts receivable accounts payable and cash management.
- Assist in annual preparation of property budgets and forecasts.
- Oversee all accounts and ledgers ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and partners’ needs.
- Accurate and timely production and review of all financial information and communication of results internally and with partners.
- Documentation of monthly financials, property budgets, annual property audits and tax returns.
- Identify and implement systems or processes to maximize internal efficiencies, shorten reporting deadlines, and maintain integrity and accuracy of financial data.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's Degree preferred). CPA is "nice to have" but not required.
- 5-10+ years of experience as a Controller or Accounting Leader in the Real Estate Asset Management and/or Property Management industry.
- Important: must have experience overseeing the financials for a residential multi-family portfolio or 7,500+ units and/or 30+ Multi-family properties.
- Strong Servant Leadership experience of property accounting teams, ideally with team sizes of 10+ staff.
- Strong fundamentals in GAAP, Tax, and financial reporting, with excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting.
- Software proficiency in Yardi, MRI, Entrata (or similar) and MS Office Suite (advanced MS Excel).
- Proficient in preparing annual property/asset budgets, along with cash flow analysis, distributions, and investment analysis.
- Experience in managing the monthly closing processes for billing, AR/AP, and cash management.
Bonus Round (desired but not required):
- CPA and/or Public accounting audit experience within the real estate / property management industry.
- Possess experience managing the accounting for luxury / Class A Multifamily portfolios
- Experience with conventional and affordable housing accounting & finance (LIHTC/PSH/HUD)
- Prior experience managing the implementation/integration of new Accounting/Financial Reporting Software.
