Job Details

We are seeking a Regional Assistant Controller to support and oversee financial operations for multiple manufacturing business units across the U.S. and Canada. This role partners closely with the Regional Controller and senior leadership and plays a critical role in managing complex, long‑duration, contract‑based revenue recognition within a technically sophisticated manufacturing environment.

This opportunity is best suited for candidates who have owned revenue recognition for long‑term contracts, including over‑time recognition, contract modifications, and ongoing judgment throughout the contract lifecycle. Experience in government, defense, aerospace, or similarly regulated environments is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and oversee accounting operations for multiple manufacturing sites across North America.
  • Own revenue recognition under ASC 606 for long‑duration, contract‑based manufacturing agreements, including milestone‑based, percentage‑of‑completion, or cost‑to‑cost revenue models.
  • Manage revenue recognition for complex contracts, including contract modifications, change orders, variable consideration, and ongoing reassessment throughout the contract term.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and program teams to understand contract structure, delivery timelines, and financial impact.
  • Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities across multiple business units.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of technical accounting support and audit documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and corporate accounting policies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls, reporting accuracy, and scalability.
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff across regional locations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA license required (active or inactive, with ability to renew).
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on ownership of ASC 606 revenue recognition, particularly for long‑duration, contract‑based arrangements with over‑time recognition.
  • Experience supporting government, defense, aerospace, infrastructure, or regulated customers, or environments with fixed‑price, cost‑plus, or milestone‑based contracts, strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, WIP, and manufacturing financial operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics 365, or similar).
  • Proven ability to exercise judgment, defend accounting positions, and partner cross‑functionally.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
