Responsibilities:
Understands basic renal function and the consequences of renal failure. In addition, understands the underlying disease processes contributing to necessary dialytic and related therapies.
Uses professional discretion in critical or emergency situations and directs the necessary intervention.
Recognizes changes in patient’s condition on dialysis and makes necessary adjustments in their therapy. Notifies the physician in a timely manner, provides the appropriate information, implements physician’s orders.
Draw and submit cultures and water analysis as indicated by technical policies and procedures.
Prepare machine and dialyzer for patient use following the nursing assessment and review of the patient’s medical record and dialysis orders by the nephrologist.
Administer medications or blood as ordered by nephrologists.
Deliver the prescribed dialysis treatments as ordered by nephrologist.
Comply with universal precautions and infection control policies.
Comply with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality of medical records.
Responsible for accurate documentation of information related to patient’s treatment in the acute dialysis record and for the hospital.

Requirements:
RN License (MO)
Minimum 1 year of inpatient dialysis experience
Hospital experience – ICU or Progressive Care experience is helpful.
Current BLS and ACLS certification
Ability to assess patients quickly in emergency situations in stressful environments.
