Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Research and Writing Attorney to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal research and writing skills and have a thorough understanding of insurance defense litigation. This role focuses on supporting trial attorneys by drafting high-quality legal documents, developing case strategies, and ensuring procedural compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Research:
o Conduct thorough and efficient legal research using tools like Westlaw, LexisNexis, or Bloomberg Law.
o Analyze and synthesize case law, statutes, regulations, and secondary sources to support case strategies.
2. Legal Writing:
o Draft clear, concise, and persuasive pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda.
o Prepare responses to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and subpoenas.
o Tailor writing to various audiences, including judges, clients, and colleagues.
3. Strategic Support:
o Collaborate with trial attorneys to develop and refine case strategies.
o Provide detailed analysis of legal issues and potential outcomes.
o Anticipate opposing counsel’s arguments and prepare counterarguments.
4. Procedural Compliance:
o Ensure all filings comply with court rules and deadlines.
o Stay current with changes in procedural and substantive law relevant to insurance defense.
5. Client Interaction:
o Assist in preparing reports and updates to clients regarding case status and strategy.
o Support client meetings by providing clear and concise summaries of legal issues.

Job Details

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas
  • 5+ years of legal research and writing experience, preferably in insurance defense or civil litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies, coverage issues, and claims-handling practices.
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
