Job Details
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with researchers and project leads to translate design concepts into functional mechanical systems.
Design and manufacture custom components using manual and CNC machining equipment.
Produce accurate 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software.
Consult on material selection, tolerancing, and fabrication strategies.
Support prototype development, testing, and iterative design improvements.
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and documentation in all shop operations.
Train and advise less experienced users on equipment, techniques, and safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
2+ years of machining, prototyping, or product development experience.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
Skilled in both CNC and manual machining processes.
Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, materials, and GD&T.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
