Job Details

Position Title: Revenue Accountant

Location: Austin, TX (Preferred) or Houston, TX

Work Environment: Full-time, onsite with potential for hybrid work after 3 months

Compensation: $80,000 – $105,000 base + 10% annual bonus + 10% long-term incentive

Start Date: ASAP

Position Summary:

This newly created position offers the opportunity to serve as a lead revenue accountant, partnering closely with the commercial operations team to evaluate the financial implications of commercial agreements. The role involves applying revenue recognition standards, reviewing contracts, and supporting month-end close processes. Strong communication and analytical skills are critical, as is the ability to manage and refine key accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate customer contracts and apply revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606

Implement and maintain a centralized contract summary for revenue tracking

Prepare and review monthly revenue accruals across multiple assets

Perform price-volume variance analysis and maintain deferred revenue schedules

Prepare invoices for maintenance and reimbursable items

Lead reconciliation of revenue-related accounts and schedules

Support monthly and annual financial close processes

Perform initial reviews of general ledger activity and balance sheet reconciliations

Assist with technical accounting memos, internal audits, and special projects

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations and commercial teams

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

CPA required or CPA-eligible (actively pursuing exams)

3–5 years of relevant revenue accounting experience, preferably in the oil & gas or energy sector

Deep understanding of ASC 606 and revenue-related processes

Strong communication skills and ability to lead process improvements

Proficient in Microsoft Office; NetSuite experience highly preferred

Experience with Quorum and Adaptive Planning is a plus

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Additional Information:

This role is onsite for the first 3 months; one work-from-home day per week may be offered thereafter
