We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for an Infection Control position. This role is ideal for someone with a strong clinical background and a passion for ensuring the health and safety of patients and staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation and management of the infection prevention and control program across our healthcare facility. This includes the prevention, identification, and control of infections among patients and staff. The candidate will also be responsible for providing education and training to all healthcare staff on infection prevention and control measures.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop, implement, and manage the infection prevention and control program to ensure that all infection control standards are met and maintained.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments to identify areas of potential infection risk and implement appropriate control measures.
3. Monitor and investigate known or suspected sources of infections and manage outbreaks in order to prevent the spread of infections within the facility.
4. Provide education and training to all healthcare staff on infection prevention and control measures, ensuring that they are up-to-date with the latest guidelines and protocols.
5. Collaborate with healthcare staff to establish and maintain infection control practices that meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
6. Review and update infection control policies and procedures regularly to ensure they are in line with the latest research and guidelines.
7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all infection prevention and control activities.
8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and committees related to infection control.
9. Liaise with local and state health departments, as necessary, to report communicable diseases as mandated by law.

Qualifications:

1. Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
2. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting.
3. Experience in long-term care is preferred.
4. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) is required.
5. Membership in the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is preferred.
6. Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control principles and practices.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and train healthcare staff on infection control measures.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
9. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
10. Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal infection control regulations and guidelines.
11. Strong commitment to ensuring the health and safety of patients and staff.
