Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians and monitor for any adverse reactions.
  • Provide withdrawal management and medical detox services, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times.
  • Utilize CIWA and COWS protocols to assess and manage patients with substance withdrawal symptoms.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report any significant changes to the supervising physician or nurse.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure the implementation of care plans.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families, explaining conditions and treatments.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the patient area, promptly reporting any issues.
  • Adhere to infection-control protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current and valid LPN license.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience as an LPN, preferably in a detox or substance abuse treatment setting.
  • Proficient in administering medications, managing withdrawals, and providing medical detox services.
  • Familiarity with CIWA and COWS assessment tools.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, family members, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work night shifts on a permanent basis.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records systems is preferred.
  • Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations.
