Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
2. Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks.
3. Develop and maintain safety training materials and conduct training sessions for employees and managers.
4. Conduct regular site safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
5. Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
6. Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
7. Assist with the identification of possible losses; evaluate the risk in such loss exposure; develop and implement a plan to eliminate or reduce the risk and determine insurance needs for protection against loss.
8. Direct the safety and loss prevention program in the operation and maintenance of equipment and apparatus in a manner that promotes safe and efficient operation and prevents accidents and loss of life.
9. Coordinate and conduct safety meetings and training programs to ensure the effective communication of company safety policy, procedures, and goals.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in safety management, engineering, or related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Safety leadership role.
3. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification is preferred.
4. Thorough knowledge of legislation and procedures related to health and safety.
5. Thorough knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices including hazardous waste management and toxic substance control.
6. Proficiency with safety management software programs.
7. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
8. Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
9. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
10. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing comprehensive strategic safety and occupational health programs.
11. Ability to identify known potential exposures and recommend corrective actions.
12. Computer skills, including high proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
