Job Details
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Sales Account Manager to lead our partnership with Kroger, one of our most critical retail customers. This individual will be responsible for owning and growing the Kroger relationship across multiple categories, driving sales performance, and leading a dedicated team of four professionals. This is a remote position, with regular travel to Cincinnati for key meetings and collaboration with Kroger stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Kroger Business:
Serve as the primary point of contact for Kroger, overseeing all aspects of the account including sales strategy, promotional planning, forecasting, and category growth.
Team Management:
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4 sales and support professionals. Set clear goals, drive accountability, and foster a high-performance culture.
Client Relationship Development:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key Kroger contacts across buying, merchandising, supply chain, and marketing departments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with internal departments including Marketing, Supply Chain, Category Management, R&D, Finance, and Customer Service to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
Category Leadership:
Understand category dynamics within both the fresh and pantry sections. Utilize insights and data to support category growth and drive product innovation and shelf expansion.
Business Planning & Analysis:
Develop and execute customer-specific business plans. Analyze performance metrics, retailer POS data, and syndicated data to make informed recommendations and adjustments.
Travel:
Travel to Cincinnati, OH approximately 1–2 times per month or as needed for business reviews, line reviews, and strategic planning meetings with Kroger.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in CPG account management, preferably with national retailers—Kroger experience strongly preferred.
Proven success managing fresh food and/or shelf-stable product categories.
Experience leading direct reports and working cross-functionally with internal and retailer teams.
Deep understanding of retail marketing, trade promotions, supply chain dynamics, and data analytics.
Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
