We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly-motivated SEC Analyst for a permanent position in the fast-paced and rapidly evolving scientific industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in a wide range of financial and operational projects, with a focus on SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of US GAAP, public accounting, XBRL, and external audit procedures. This role will also involve ad hoc reporting and requires a CPA certification or equivalent.
Responsibilities
1. Prepare and review SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, etc.) ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
2. Assist in the preparation and execution of SOX compliance program, identifying areas of risk and implementing mitigating controls.
3. Collaborate with the external auditors during interim and year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations for testing.
4. Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by management, providing insight into financial trends and operational efficiency.
5. Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting.
6. Participate in special projects related to new accounting standards, business initiatives, or system enhancements, providing expertise in the interpretation and application of US GAAP.
7. Prepare and review XBRL tagging of financial statements and footnotes.
8. Act as a key point of contact for financial and operational issues, providing guidance and support to other departments as needed.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in SEC reporting, public accounting, or a related field.
3. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, SEC reporting requirements, and XBRL.
4. Experience with external audits and internal controls.
5. Proficient in the use of financial reporting systems and advanced Excel skills.
6. Strong analytical skills with an ability to identify and analyze complex financial transactions.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial personnel.
8. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
9. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
10. Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
