We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team in the civil construction industry. This role is critical to ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost tracking, and timely billing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in billing, job costing, as well as strong general ledger experience.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the full cycle of Accounts Receivable, including client invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze job cost reports, ensuring accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overhead to construction projects.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Collaborate with project managers to review budgets, track project financial performance, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and financial statement preparation.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing principles, construction billing practices, and GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Attributes:
  • Experience working with union payroll and certified payroll reporting.
  • Familiarity with WIP (Work in Progress) reporting and revenue recognition for long-term contracts.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
