Job Details

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Accountant's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Maintenance of General Ledger included responsibility form month-end closings and required journal entries.
  • Responsible for reconciling General Ledger to the Portfolio donor management system every month.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all Accounts Payable functions, including promptly entering all invoices and payments.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all Accounts Receivable functions, including promptly counting, depositing, and recording of receivables.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of Government billings and follow-up with the collection of the Receivables Responsible for generating all Month End Financial Reports and any interim reports requested by administration by the 10th working day of the following month.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and record-keeping associated with Custodian and subsidiary accounts.
  • Responsible for accurately filing all pertinent accounting documents promptly.
  • Responsible for peer review and approval of general journals of one other accountant.
  • Responsible for assisting management in the Budgeting Responsible for preparing materials requested in connection with Audits conducted by Independent outside auditors.
  • Any other duties assigned by the department managers.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Business Administration and three or more years of \"hands-on\" experience in a business computer accounting environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Accounting: Possess a general understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and FASB Standards.
  • Computer: The ability to operate within a computer environment is essential, as is a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and E-mail.
  • Office: The ability to operate 10-key by touch and other standard office equipment efficiently is necessary.
  • Organization: The ability to address multiple projects in a time-sensitive manner.
  • Professional: The ability to present oneself professionally and maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in relation to information and documentation.
  • Personal: The ability to interact with both co-workers and management positively.
