We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This role is integral to our financial operations and requires a professional with a strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets, consolidated income statements, and balance sheets. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and tracking profitability, working capital, cash flow, and risk management, as well as establishing and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, and check runs.
2. Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
3. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
4. Coordinate and complete annual audits.
5. Provide recommendations for improving systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
6. Meet financial accounting objectives.
7. Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
8. Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.
9. Lead and track profitability, working capital, cash flow, and risk management.
10. Manage debt compliance, audit, and tax tasks.
11. Utilize Commercial Real Estate Accounting, Yardi Software, and MRI software to streamline processes and improve financial accuracy.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. 3+ years of experience in accounting or a related field.
3. Experience with Commercial Real Estate Accounting, Yardi Software, and MRI software.
4. Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets, consolidated income statements, and balance sheets.
5. Proven ability to lead and track profitability, working capital, cash flow, and risk management.
6. Experience in managing debt compliance, audit, and tax.
7. Strong computer skills, MS Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts, and using advanced formulas).
8. Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
9. Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data.
10. Attention to detail and accuracy.
11. Team management skills.
12. Ability to prioritize work.
13. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
