Job Details

The Senior Accountant is directly responsible for accounting & finance reporting, asset management, procurement, accounts payable, inventory control and maintaining company accounting processes within the business unit.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintains database by entering, verifying, and backing up financial and farm production data.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliation and research as required keeping accurate general ledger information.
  • Assist as required with financial reporting, financial planning & analysis.
  • Support the month-end accounting process – recording transactions on system, assist with accruals/prepayments, journals, variance analysis,.
  • Timely entry of vendor accounts payable and accurate general ledger coding into ERP system.
  • Records and maintains finished goods stack production inventory in ERP system.
  • Process customer invoices and post receipt payments through the SAGE ERP X3 system.
  • Support AP process when required.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence with GAAP and other internal policies and procedures, as well as the completeness and accuracy of all general ledger accounts.
  • Responsible for recording, auditing, and maintaining asset information.
  • Evaluate existing asset management systems and the design, implementation and management of new/improved systems for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Define scope of the asset management processes, function, the items that are to be controlled, and the information that is to be recorded.
  • Provides reports, including management reports.
  • Prepare and implement procurement plan annually.
  • Work across the departments to plan and prioritize purchasing activities
  • Review planned orders, create requisitions for purchased items, and manage approval process through SAP ARIBA system.
  • Transmit and prioritize approved purchase orders to the chosen supplier through the SAP ARIBA System.
  • Track order acknowledgements, prepare and communicate shortage and back order reports
  • Review, update, and maintain purchase orders until they are fully completed
  • Ensure orders adhere to supplier agreements and contracts
  • Negotiate contracts, agreements and pricing with suppliers
  • Identify opportunities and implement actions to achieve efficiencies
  • Maintain positive working relationships with our vendors/suppliers
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Accounting/Finance required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required
  • Experience in grower or farm accounting desired
  • Superior demonstrated PC skills, Excel in particular, required
  • Sage, SAP or other ERP experience required
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills required
  • Excellent organization skills, multi-tasking and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Clearly partners and works effectively across functional areas
