Senior Revenue Accountant (Remote or Hybrid)
Location: Remote (with occasional travel to Rockville, MD)
Type: Full-time | Industry: Healthcare (experience preferred but not required)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong focus on revenue accounting to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a self-starter with deep experience in US GAAP compliance, complex reconciliations, and large data set analysis—particularly within a high-growth environment. If you enjoy solving problems, working collaboratively, and diving into financial data to ensure revenue accuracy, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare journal entries related to deferred revenue, bad debt, allocations, and cash.
Perform monthly close procedures including AR subledger analysis, revenue reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Ensure revenue recognition practices comply with US GAAP; familiarity with ASC 606 is preferred.
Conduct cash reconciliations and contribute to reserve and bad debt entries.
Analyze large data sets from internal platforms and identify inconsistencies or reporting gaps.
Document revenue processes and assist with the development of process documentation for new platforms.
Collaborate cross-functionally with RCM, accounting, and systems teams to obtain reporting and support close deadlines.
Engage in continuous process improvement, automation initiatives, and documentation.
Assist in training and onboarding of new team members and serve as a resource for revenue-related questions.
Gain ownership of assigned practices within 90 days, including posting cash, revenue, and reserve entries with team support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
CPA is a plus, but not required. If pursuing CPA, please share passed sections and timing.
3–5+ years of experience in accounting roles with a focus on revenue or AR.
Experience in a publicly traded company or private company with $250M+ in annual revenue strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of US GAAP.
Exposure to ASC 606 preferred.
Healthcare revenue cycle experience is a plus but not required.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables required).
Experience with dashboards, macros, Tableau, or Power BI is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage deadlines with limited oversight.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); comfort in a remote-first environment is essential.
Work Environment & Travel:
Fully remote with expectation of occasional in-person onboarding and training.
Travel to Rockville, MD ~3 times annually for team collaboration and project workshops.
