Job Details
The Senior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting functions, month-end close processes, and financial reporting. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably in manufacturing, food production, or a related industry.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS)
Assist with financial statement preparation and ensure compliance with GAAP
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Oversee inventory accounting processes, including cycle counts and inventory adjustments
Work closely with operations and supply chain to align financial data with production and inventory movements
Assist in annual audits, liaising with external auditors
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency
Support the Controller in special projects, financial analysis, and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the food manufacturing, seafood, or frozen food sectors
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting best practices
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
