Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

SaaS startup backed by renowned VC firms, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their dynamic team! Their team includes veterans from FAANG and successful Bay Area tech startups. Their SaaS platform is revolutionizing the way information is acquired and shared. They currently have many users and are looking to build out a search & recommender system.

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer who is passionate about data. As our company grows, so do our data opportunities and challenges.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend components for various user-facing features on the core platform.
• Enhance platform architecture and data models to ensure a high-performance, reliable user experience.
• Create and maintain systems for efficient data collection, processing, storage, and retrieval.
• Improve analytics, monitoring, and alert systems to promptly detect and address operational issues.
• Ensure all systems are highly observable, reliable, scalable, and automated.
• Design data solutions that support multiple sources, including the platform and analytics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline and integrate data workflows.

Requirements

• 6 or more years of experience and a track record of building and shipping high quality products and features
• Strong backend experience with Node / TypeScript and a focus on building APIs and data platforms.
• Experience with search, recommendations, and/or data problem sets
• Expertise in designing systems for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages and frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Passion for making data systems observable and highly automated.

Big Plus: Experience building data infrastructure from scratch at a fast-growing startup with an understanding of data modeling, ontologies, and knowledge graphs.
