Job Details

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and execution of structural projects supporting public and private infrastructure and development, including unique and complex projects.
  • Participate in the preparation of contract plans, engineer’s estimates, construction specifications, and provide field support services as needed.
  • Develop reports, studies, specifications, plans, and designs for projects of varying scope and scale, involving exploration of subject areas, defining project scope, and creating innovative concepts and solutions.
  • Work independently with consultation but minimal supervision.
  • Provide cost estimates, resource planning (personnel and materials), establish project timelines, and assist in proposal preparation. May also contribute to client presentations.
  • Review project designs and plans prepared by junior engineers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards, delegating tasks as appropriate.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with quality control and assurance standards.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, acting independently on technical matters as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Structural Engineering preferred.
  • Proven design experience with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and straight/curved steel beams is required; experience with wood and masonry is a plus.
  • Prior experience in the Civil Engineering industry, with proficiency in CAD and design software such as OpenRoads, OpenBridge Designer, AutoCAD/Civil3D, Merlin Dash, MIDAS, AASHTO BrR, Leap Bridge, PyWall, and L-Pile.
  • Structural design experience for public transportation projects (e.g., ODOT, municipal, and county) is required, including expertise in steel and reinforced concrete design in compliance with ODOT and AASHTO specifications.
  • Familiarity with railroad structures and AREMA specifications is a plus.
  • Bridge inspection experience is a bonus.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a technical lead on projects of varying complexity, with strong communication and multitasking skills in a collaborative team environment.
  • Coursework and career experience in structural engineering, including the design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, foundations, and related structures.
