Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Several years of experience in production planning, purchasing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience purchasing raw materials, ingredients, packaging, or other manufacturing commodities.
  • Working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems used for production planning and purchasing.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze inventory, production, and purchasing data.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, Transportation, Quality, and Customer Service.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Food or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand and inventory levels.
  • Purchase raw materials and packaging materials needed to support manufacturing operations.
  • Create and manage purchase orders through an ERP/MRP system.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent material shortages while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Coordinate supplier deliveries to ensure materials arrive on time for production.
  • Partner with Transportation to improve inbound freight efficiency and delivery performance.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Operations to adjust production schedules as business needs change.
  • Resolve supplier, inventory, and material availability issues before they impact production.
  • Analyze planning data and adjust purchasing strategies based on changing customer demand.
  • Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities to align purchasing, production, and inventory strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning accuracy, supplier performance, and inventory management processes.
