Our company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Construction Accountant to join our dynamic team. This position plays a fundamental role in the financial management of our construction projects, including cost analysis, budget control, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining accounts payable documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain financial reports and records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting standards and principles.
  • Perform account reconciliations regularly to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and collections.
  • Maintain the general ledger, making necessary entries and adjustments.
  • Assist in project accounting, including tracking project costs and comparing them against budgets.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure financial data accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Assist with the year-end close process, preparing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Act as a notary, verifying and certifying necessary business documents.
  • Collaborate with other team members to support overall department goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of project accounting and budget control.
  • Experience with accounts payable and receivable, invoice processing, and collections.
  • Ability to reconcile accounts accurately and efficiently.
  • Notary certification is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
