Job Details

The Cost Accountant will be the primary finance lead over the Portland and South Portland, ME manufacturing facilities. The Cost Accountant provides timely and accurate accounting and finance services while complying with GAAP, and in alignment with Corporate requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct month and year end closing, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and balanced
Partner with the Finance Director - Operations and Plant Leadership, providing sound business analytics and understanding of financials, with associated recommendations for ongoing improvement.
Prepare reports in support of the business as required at the respective cadence - daily, weekly, monthly in an efficient and repeatable manner.
Leverage data to support adhoc analysis as opportunities and threats arise to support decision making and agility within the business
Proactive analysis of trends and leading indicators, supporting the business and Plant Leadership with data to understand and act
Support the development of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, providing thorough analysis of variances
Control and maintenance of standard costs – lead standard costing across respective plants
Proactive costing analysis to drive process improvements and accuracy of costing
Works closely with operations to ensure accurate and timely recording of all production costs and effective analysis of production variances.
Drive accountability across the organization to utilize Plex standard processes, while ensuring appropriate controls and oversight are in place.
Lead weekly inventory cycle count process, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions on a regular basis.
Responsible for Inventory controls, obsolete inventory, slow moving and proper valuation of each.
Support Plant Leadership in driving inventory accountability across the organization.
Drive system integrity for all inventory transactions
Support the development of business justifications, including ROls
Support all financial related audits
Estimate product costs to support quoting activities

Education / Skills

Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred, or relevant experience
Minimum of 3+ years of manufacturing cost accounting experience
Comprehension of manufacturing financial transactions and reports
Must have operational annual budget forecasting experience in manufacturing environment
Requires strong understanding of inventory controls and system transactions
Skilled in gathering, managing and analyzing data.
Demonstrate teamwork competencies in a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment
Advanced proficiency with MS Excel
Strong manufacturing ERP experience, Plex a plus.
ERP implementation experience a plus
