Overview
The Senior Estimator is responsible for overseeing and managing the estimating process for electrical construction projects. Success in this position requires a deep understanding of the electrical industry, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a proven ability to produce accurate and timely estimates while managing a team of estimators.
Responsibilities
Manage and mentor a team of estimators, ensuring that they produce accurate and timely estimates in accordance with company standards.
Review opportunities with the Director of Preconstruction to ensure the backlog is filled and assign the project to the rest of the Estimating Team.
Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to prepare comprehensive and accurate estimates.
Work collaboratively with vendors, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure that estimates are based on the most up to date information.
Evaluate and select the most cost-effective materials, methods, and equipment for each project while utilizing the project specifications.
Continuously evaluate and improve the estimating process to increase accuracy and efficiency.
Review all bids completed by estimators prior to submittal to ensure accuracy and completion.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
10 plus years of experience in estimating electrical construction projects.
Experience working on large-scale industrial, commercial, and medical electrical construction projects is preferred.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and mentor a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical data and translate it into accurate project estimates.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Accubid, McCormick, Microsoft Office suite, etc.
Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
