We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Estimator to join our team in the construction industry. This position is an integral part of our operations, playing a key role in the preconstruction phase of our projects. The individual will work closely with our project management team, architects, and clients to develop comprehensive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in ground up construction, cost estimation, contract negotiation, project estimation, and project bidding. Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for select trades.
2. Review and evaluate cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3. Prepare and submit project bids, including taking part in pre-bid reviews and bid strategy sessions.
4. Lead the contract negotiation process with clients and subcontractors.
5. Collaborate with the project management team, architects, and clients to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project.
6. Identify potential cost uncertainties to ensure that the maximum possible risk is accounted for in the estimate.
7. Maintain an up-to-date cost database and estimating software.
8. Develop relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
9. Provide consultation on planning, coordination, and supervision of technical aspects of construction projects.
10. Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, quality, and availability of materials.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in ground up construction.
3. Proficient in estimating software and other construction industry software.
4. Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills.
6. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
7. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
8. Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with a diverse group of people.
9. Proven track record of preparing successful bids and estimates.
10. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
