The Project Cost Accountant is responsible for developing detailed finished goods product quotations utilizing knowledge of the Company’s processes, raw materials, and end markets.
The Cost Accountant is an integral role, as it interfaces with Purchasing, Planning, Project Management and Research & Development to develop price models that meet strategic corporate objectives while considering client price targets.

Job Details
- Creates quote spreadsheets with detailed inputs based on product formulas, component costs, and labor / overhead factors.
- In conjunction with R&D and Project Management, builds reverse price models that provide chemists with chemical cost targets based on client price targets.
- Works with Planner, R&D and Manufacturing manager to determine proper equipment usage, incorporating manufacturing labor factors in the quote process.
- Works with Purchasing and Project Management to determine potential unique chemical risk factors and process quotes accordingly.
- Works with Maintenance and Quality Control to evaluate component fill levels to build in proper overages, and possible unique tooling costs.
- Partners with Plant Manager, Planner and Manufacturing/Production Managers to determine labor factors and line speeds for use in quotes.
- Consults with Director of Product Development and Quality Control to consider other cost inputs relating to regulatory costs, testing costs and other special costs.
- Working with Project Managers, assesses historical SKU pricing for consideration in establishing quote margins.
- Builds quotes at different quantity tiers as requested by Project Managers or business development personnel.
- Creates quote letters for client presentation once quotes are approved by Controller and/or Chief Executive Officer.
- Assesses fluctuations in key cost inputs to drive updated product quotes for re-orders and similar products.
