University looking for a Systems/Security Engineer

Job Details:

Our organization is seeking a seasoned Systems/Security Engineer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your expertise to protect our systems and data, ensuring the highest level of security for our staff and patients. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information, managing system vulnerability scanning, data loss prevention, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive information security programs.
• Ensure the protection of our systems and data from potential internal and external threats.
• Conduct regular network monitoring and vulnerability scanning to identify potential weaknesses and risks.
• Implement and manage data loss prevention strategies, including backups and disaster recovery plans.
• Monitor for internal threats and ransomware, taking swift action to prevent data breaches.
• Manage endpoint protection, ensuring all devices are secure and compliant with our security policies.
• Conduct ethical hacking exercises to identify potential vulnerabilities and strengthen our security systems.
• Implement and manage security systems and protocols in Office 365, Azure, and VMware environments.
• Utilize SIEM tools for security management and information analysis.
• Manage and maintain firewalls, antivirus systems, and VPNs to ensure secure network access and data protection.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies, and provide recommendations for security enhancements.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Systems/Security Engineer role or similar.
• Proven experience with Office 365, vulnerability scanning, network monitoring, data loss prevention, backups, disaster recovery, internal threat monitoring, ransomware, endpoint protection, ethical hacking, Azure, SIEM, firewalls, antivirus, VPN, and VMware.
• Strong understanding of information security principles and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical staff.
• Relevant certifications in information security (CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, etc.) are highly desirable.
• Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus, but not required.
