Job Details

Responsibilities:

As a Permanent Senior Litigator / Senior Counsel, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

1. Providing expert and strategic legal advice to management.
2. Setting internal governance policies and managing the impact of external factors.
3. Evaluating and weighing multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action.
4. Anticipating issues and estimating risks strategically.
5. Identifying proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks.
6. Base your decision-making process on ethics and integrity.
7. Dealing with external parties (regulators, external counsel, politicians, clients).
8. Creating associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders.
9. Handling litigation, arbitration, and tribunal proceedings.
10. Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing legal agreements, contracts, and documents.
11. Ensuring legal compliance in all operations and advising on legal aspects of company strategy.
12. Managing and nurturing relationships with clients to ensure their needs are met and exceeded.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney with a focus on employment law, labor and employment law, public agencies, government litigation, public sector, case management, client relations, and appellate.
3. Current license to practice law.
4. Demonstrable experience in managing and leading a team.
5. Proven track record of successfully litigating cases and managing client relationships.
6. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
7. Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
8. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
9. High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas.
10. Excellent judgement and analytical skills.
11. First class interpersonal and communication skills.
12. Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to "see around the corner".
