Job Details
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the department or departments assigned in an industrial metals manufacturing facility. This includes ensuring that production goals are met, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility, and leading a team of shift supervisors and employees to ensure that all safety and quality standards are met. The Sr Operations Manager will also be responsible for implementing lean manufacturing principles and practices to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
Essential Responsibilities
Develop and implement operational plans to meet production goals
Oversee day-to-day operations of the facility
Lead a team of employees in all aspects of production
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
Implement lean manufacturing principles and practices
Monitor performance metrics to identify areas for improvement
Develop strategies to reduce costs and increase efficiency
Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply
Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations

B.S. degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Lean/6S Blackbelt Training (5S, Std Work, SMED, TPM, VSM, DMAIC Projects, etc.).
10+ years' experience in heavy industrial manufacturing specifically working with equipment-based manufacturing in a fast-paced output and high frequency equipment set-ups and changeovers environment.
Some union experience required.
Strong work ethic. Expected to be on the plant floor a large portion of the time and complete daily Gemba Walks with the shift supervisor and Director of Operations.
Analytical mindset. Be very comfortable working with and leveraging data to be successful.
KPI/Tier Board mindset. Be very experienced with utilizing Tier Boards (hour-by-hour, SQDCIP, etc.) at machine centers to drive KPI metrics and PDCA continuous improvement.
