Job Details

Responsibilities

As a Senior Paralegal in our Family Law Department, you will be expected to:

1. Conduct extensive legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy development.
2. Draft, proofread, and edit a variety of legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and agreements.
3. Manage and organize case files, ensuring all relevant information is easily accessible and up-to-date.
4. Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and opposing counsel to schedule meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials.
5. Assist attorneys in preparing for court proceedings, including assembling exhibits, organizing evidence, and preparing witness files.
6. Monitor case deadlines and ensure all filings are completed in a timely manner.
7. Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including handling client inquiries, maintaining attorney calendars, and managing billing and expense reports.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications:

1. A minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, with a strong emphasis on family law.
2. Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
3. Paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program.
4. Proficiency in legal research tools and databases, such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
5. Excellent legal writing and document preparation skills.
6. In-depth understanding of family law procedures, court systems, and legal terminology.
7. Strong case management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
8. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
9. High level of professionalism and discretion, with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
