Job Details

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the preparation, distribution, and reporting processes for payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
2. Process payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and taxes.
3. Work closely with the HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and record keeping.
4. Review and verify source documents for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure all payroll transactions are processed correctly.
5. Prepare and submit reports on payroll activities to senior management.
6. Stay updated on current regulations and best practices related to payroll processing and taxation.
7. Handle payroll related queries and provide excellent customer service to employees.
8. Participate in audits and assist with the development and implementation of payroll procedures and policies.
9. Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
10. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll specialist role, preferably within the Accounting and Finance industry.
2. Extensive experience with multi-state payroll processing and a strong understanding of payroll tax laws.
3. Proven ability to handle crunch time, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
4. Proficiency in payroll software and systems, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.
5. Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
6. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
8. Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.
9. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
10. Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.
