Senior Plant Accountant

My client is a bottling company that services NY and surrounding states.

The Cost Accountant Manager is responsible for all cost accounting functions including recommending, implementing and monitoring cost controls, developing and updating standard costs, reconciling physical inventories and ensuring timely and accurate production reporting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee production reporting with variance analysis.
• Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of all inventory related balance sheet accounts, cost of goods sold and variance data.
• Prepare and review monthly cost accounting journal entries.
• Monitor inventory transactions and physical inventory counts.
• Develop, recommend and implement methods to improve cost controls by establishing partnerships with the production and purchasing departments.
• Conduct monthly analytical review of cost of goods sold.
• Ensure formula accuracy.
• Support the preparation and development of standard costs across the organization.
• Review bills of material for standard cost accuracy.
• Perform cost analysis to assist with customer pricing recommendations.
• Conduct routine analysis of all phases of costing activities to include production, maintenance and research and development costs.
• Streamline accounting processes to enhance automation and efficiency.

Job Requirements, Education, & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 8 years of accounting experience with 4+ years of solid cost accounting experience in manufacturing environment.
• Advanced Excel / data mining skills.
• Experience with SAP.
• Experience with WMS / Manufacturing ERP systems a requirement.
• Excellent analytical and research skills.
• Accustomed to working on the floor in an industrial setting.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate with multiple departments/cross function teams.
• Bilingual – English / Spanish helpful.
