We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Senior Property Accountant - Supervisor to join our thriving Accounting and Finance team. This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and manage accounting operations for a diverse portfolio of properties, including affordable housing, apartments, and mixed-use developments. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding and hands-on experience with general ledger (GL), accruals, balance sheets, and other key accounting principles.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Property Accountant - Supervisor, you will be entrusted with a broad range of responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage all aspects of accounting operations for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
2. Review and approve monthly accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
3. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
4. Develop and implement effective accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
5. Coordinate with the property management team to ensure accurate tenant billings and lease administration.
6. Provide financial information and guidance to senior management, assisting in strategic decision-making.
7. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of property accountants, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
8. Liaise with external auditors and manage the audit process.
9. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
10. Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities for the portfolio.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. An advanced degree or CPA designation is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, with a focus on affordable housing, apartments, and mixed-use properties.
3. Proven experience in supervisory or management roles, with a track record of leading successful teams.
4. Proficiency in general ledger (GL), accruals, and balance sheet management.
5. Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
6. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound financial decisions.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
8. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
9. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
10. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
