We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly-skilled Senior Staff Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. This is a permanent, full-time position. The Senior Staff Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach, with the ability to handle various tasks simultaneously, including but not limited to, monthly reconciliations, preparing and reviewing financial statements, payroll processing, tax return reviews, budget analysis, and assisting in annual audits.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly-skilled Senior Staff Accountant to join our Accounting and Finance team. This is a permanent, full-time position. The Senior Staff Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach, with the ability to handle various tasks simultaneously, including but not limited to, monthly reconciliations, preparing and reviewing financial statements, payroll processing, tax return reviews, budget analysis, and assisting in annual audits.
Responsibilities:
- Complete and review monthly reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts.
- Review and post recurring and manual journal entries each month, as needed.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements.
- Serve as backup for processing bi-weekly payroll and employee benefits.
- Review monthly investment reconciliation, allocate monthly investment activity, and post asset rebalancing.
- Review property tax returns for the agency's business units.
- Prepare monthly program budget to actual analysis.
- Make decisions on positive pay exceptions generated by banking institution and review online activity in bank account daily.
- Prepare monthly governmental grant billing.
- Prepare bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly administrative fees.
- Prepare accurate and timely semi-annual financial statements for Supporting Organizations.
- Identify operating cost savings opportunities.
- Assist with annual audit and information return preparation.
- Assist with work flows in document management system.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with financial software systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and enhance operational efficiency.
