This role is an integral part of our finance department, responsible for ensuring the company's compliance with all tax regulations and for developing tax strategies to optimize the company's financial performance. The successful candidate will be a seasoned tax professional with a strong background in corporate tax planning, preparation, and returns. Responsibilities
As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will be expected to:
1. Prepare and file all federal, state, and local tax returns for the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
2. Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the company's tax liability and optimize its financial performance.
3. Conduct detailed tax research and analysis to support the company's strategic planning and decision-making processes.
4. Work closely with the finance team to integrate tax considerations into the company's budgeting and forecasting processes.
5. Stay abreast of the latest developments in tax law and regulations, particularly those relevant to the biotech industry.
6. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, incorporating tax considerations as necessary.
7. Collaborate with external tax consultants and auditors as needed.
8. Provide guidance and support to junior staff members in the tax department.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Senior Tax Accountant position will have:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree or certification (such as a CPA or a Master's in Taxation) is preferred.
2. At least 5 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on corporate tax planning, preparation, and returns.
3. A deep understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax information and develop effective tax strategies.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
6. Proficiency in tax software and other relevant computer applications.
7. A strong work ethic and a high level of professional integrity.
8. Experience in the biotech or scientific industry is a plus.
