We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our Tax Team. We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our Tax Team. An ideal candidate will be part of a fast paced and dynamic finance team within a growing organization in the investment management industry. This role requires a driven team-player with a positive and proactive attitude, excellent organization, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare / review tax workpaper, including state apportionment calculations, in support of Federal, State, or Local income partnership tax filings.
- Coordinate tax preparation process between various external parties and service providers.
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax projections.
- Prepare tax withholding allocations, including but not limited to California pass through entity tax (PTET) allocations, and process tax payments in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Conduct tax research through available application tools such as CCH.
- Review external JV K-1s/tax forms per established procedures.
- Review investor K-1s/tax forms and returns, prepared by third party CPA firms, in an effective and efficient manner.
- Assist with quarterly and annual REIT testing.
- Assist with IRC Section 704 workpaper updates.
- Assist with tracking tax notices, gathering information, working with respective state departments, and drafting response letters.
- Assist with other special projects assigned by management.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required, MBT/MST a plus.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in tax preferred, experience in public accounting is a plus.
- Experience with Joint Venture accounting or passthrough entities is a plus.
- Experience with private equity real estate funds, private equity funds or REIT’s is a plus.
- Flexible and able to operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and respond to shifting priorities to meet deadlines including those of the busy tax season.
- Ability to handle confidential investor information with discretion.
- Professional written and oral communication skills.
- Well-organized and detailed oriented individual with the highest degree of integrity, motivation and intellectual curiosity.
- Skilled in working across heavily matrixed organizations which requires significant influencing and collaboration skills.
- Tech forward with proficiency in Excel and knowledge in Yardi and Adobe.
- Ability to work in Irvine, CA office 5 days a week.
