Your primary responsibilities will include:
Working closely with partners and other senior staff to develop and implement effective strategies and tax planning assignments
Performing technical research, and developing and documenting tax plan recommendations
Managing a portfolio of tax services clients
Reviewing tax returns and other tax work prepared by staff
Identifying and cultivating new sales and/or client service opportunities
Managing engagement financials including budgets, WIP, variances and billing
Mentoring, training and developing staff
Leading practice and professional development initiatives
A successful candidate will have:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation or equivalent
Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program
Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in tax
High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
At least two years in a tax manager role, HST experience is an asset
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining trusted advisor relationships
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to lead, mentor and develop others to build high performing teams
Understanding of a client-focused fast paced work environment and the ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
Business development skills are an asset
