Job Details

Newly created role for our firm, focused on large and complex public foundation returns:

Commitment to working exclusively on 990 series returns and a love for them!
  • Advanced familiarity and experience with accounting and tax reporting for non-marketable investments, K-1’s, basis tracking, Forms 926, 8865, 5471, etc
  • Strong preference for candidates with extensive experience with Form 990 series returns – Form 990-PF in particular - BAM – while preferred we know that this is a unicorn sort of ask. We can teach the Form if the person is committed to working in in the sector.
  • Understanding of basic US entity structures for tax purposes, and understanding what makes an entity regarded or disregarded
  • De-consolidating financial statements for reporting tax returns of subsidiary organizations

Responsibilities
Review and/or prepare federal and state returns for exempt organizations.
Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client’s affairs.
Assist clients with challenging tax compliance issues.
Prepare internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents for distribution to clients.
Manage multiple clients, budgets, and production goals.
Provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients in key tax-exempt areas.
Excellent communication, documentation and analytical skills, and ability to work both independently and on a team.
Plan and schedule engagements with clients and firm resources to consistently meet deadlines.
Perform detailed and timely reviews of tax workpapers and provision calculations completed by associates.
Ability to mentor and develop staff

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent
Five or more years of tax experience serving tax exempt clients, Not for Profits, Foundations, 990 Returns
Tax research capabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounting, and financial planning concepts.
Ability to master tax rules applicable to non-profits
Effective time management skills for meeting due dates
Experience mentoring and supervising staff
